Launched for the opening day of the Indian Premier League, Viacom18’s JioCinema debuted a sprawling, metaverse-inspired virtual campus, which is a mixture of traditional broadcast studios supported by expansive, virtually produced environments, set against the landscape of Viacom18’s broadcast home, Mumbai. The massive virtual studio system was built in Unreal Engine by Sequin AR.

IPL’s opening day saw digital viewership soar by 51% compared to its debut last season, with over 111 million fans tuning into JioCinema, generating 590 million video views and amassing 6.6 billion minutes of watch time during a thrilling match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings.
